 both...
this is a good example of political dishonesty. everybody knew it, this is why we couldn't see what was in the bill until it was passed. the double funding of obama care was a lie all the time. how many times will the american people allow themselves to be intellectually cheated by their government?
the obama care is becoming the controversial legislation in u.s. history. more time has been wasted on the process, than can be justified by it's positive effect. this is really only the beginning. when you consider the size and scope of the effort to sneak it by the republicans, and the american people. apparently you can't spend the same dollar twice. apparently, the democrats think you can. once again, it's not what you did... it's the way you did it. the media (except for fox as usual) won't really cover it.

union shakedown
by miles standish
i have as much chance of being in a union as i do of being on dancing with the stars.
my biggest yank with the unions is the leaders that live off the politics of tax money and education. the other thing is crappy teachers that can't be fired. maybe the recent events might help to build a fire under collective asses of the teachers that barely fog up the mirror.
no profession guards it's weak members like the teachers (except maybe journalists). teaching isn't such a bad gig. it's rewarding, it pays well, it has many privileges and there is no substitute for a real live working teacher (pun intended). most are good, some are great. we trust our children to them, and overall it's not a bad arrangement, it can always be better.
i'm afraid that some of the players in the protests have distinguished themselves as over reaching and greedy about the future, this during the worst depression since the great depression.
can't have it both ways. so cough up the lazy drainers within our teacher community, and replace them with firebrand enthusiasts. the ones that got into teaching to "make a difference", not just to soak up the gravy provided (sometimes extorted) by the unions.
in a situation like the u.s.a. having debt (we should have no debt), teachers don't need a union, they can speak for them selves.
however, not one norma rea rose from the smoke of this last confligration, maybe times haved changed.

  oh inflation....

i write what i feel:  sometimes i bang it out with the libs at the political forums: check it out-

http://www.usmessageboard.com/politics/156947-apologize-for-iraq-i-dont-think-so.html

now, interestingly enough, i do throw out a hotter topic from time to time, but i'm not a troll.
here's one on the union strike   http://www.usmessageboard.com/politics/157157-are-firefighters-and-police-more-important-than-teachers.html

 it's easy to blame congress:
we should blame congress, they confiscate our hard earned money, then they waste it. congress battles it out with the whitehouse while the supreme court sits quietly by, like the wise old grandfather watching his families' growing pains. the legislative and executive branches cause all of the trouble.
the inspiration for this came from the apparent hopelessness that comes from the idea that the government might be to late to ever grow smaller.
the federal government is so big and wasteful, that it has taken on a life of it's own. rather than be an instrument to enforce the laws and pay the bills, as intended, now we just have this big living fire breathing monster dragon thing. no body even knows what half the government frickin' goes.
now were are hiring another 17000 irs agents, it's abject madness. we are moving closer to being a police state, and obama's ideals of government control. let's shrink the gouverment starting with the trouble maker executive branch. obama could pick his best 100 people and fire everybody else. this may not happen this year, but maybe next year. then, we'll strip congress back to less than a thousand people. that's not a thousand for each member.
take all the extra money and open up medical clinics. if the boat to downsizing government has sailed, then we need to start over. wipe the slate clean. we'll go back to the original 50 colonies.

high speed rail is a bad idea because of it's susceptibility to terrorism.

"this terrible condition"
doctor fraud violates sacred territory:
the teachers and their strike and unions and rallys are adorable. they are sticking together, but they can only go so far without being resented.

the people in their communities won't tolerate their kids being abandoned by their teachers. it's a self fulfilling prophecy. unions haven't done much to distinguish themselves lately. the thing people want the most is to have their kids act like they've been to school. a lot of our schools suck, partly because there is something in all of us that doesn't want to be in school, some more than others.
for those who do, we as a nation can do better. weed out the bad teachers. people in the private sector are accountable for their performance. i have seen decisive monitoring, and high standards, with excellent results. but there are a lot of lazy teachers, and we need to:
 a. build a fire under their collective ass, to inspire our children, or;  b. say "your fired". then, what ever it takes, we get some fresh blood in there. it's time.

a deal is a deal.
by edward teach

the arrangements  that the teachers made should stand, otherwise it's eliminate domain of someone's pension. if we can't count on honoring the contracts we make, than what's the point on having laws? eminent domain has been approved for misuse by the supreme court. it sickens me that they can steal your home and give it to private citizens (as in the case of the new york times, or the "benedict arnold gazette").
you can work your whole life a be righteous about your saving and planning of your american dream. then someone from the government comes to your door one day and says "we're taking this to giving it to the new york times". not for a railroad, or an interstate highway, or a hospital.
it's for the new york times, where they give aid and comfort to enemies of america. kelo versus new london.

and as much as i dislike the teachers union, i have to say that a deal is a deal. changing their futures now would be stealing, remember that for next time. teachers don't need a union, they can speak for themselves.
my biggest hangup is the lazy crummie teachers, being equally compensated, as are the really good hardworking dedicated teachers, to whom we have utmost respect and love.
fire the slugs that just fog up the mirror and get the job, for life. then, negotiate the up and coming contracts. in this atmosphere of economic suffering nobody is too sympathetic about teachers salary, holidays and summers off, and extended benefit packages;  maybe now isn't the right time to strike. you can't take away what they already have, that's what they call a guarantee.

this might be the guy
hey, chris christie is funny. he is the most charismatic politician in the country right now. even if he says he won't run, he must be thinking about it. this is the guy that the democrat party fears the most. he's smooth, without the telepromter, and his message is straight from the founding fathers and the constitution of the united states. he could beat obama in a general election. he's quick and has a great sense of humor, which you would have to have to be president. americans like this guy, so do we.

the president of the world
by penn dupont
i am disturbed by the elevation of former president clinton. the democrat party touts this guy as if he were the greatest president ever. they put him on the pedestal. we do have a collective short memory when it comes to politics and the characters that play the game.
i guess what comes first is his lack of character and the acting out sexually with women he encountered.
his period of history was very calm, and he enjoyed tremendous economic growth and subsequent revenues that ensued. the internet phenomenon brought so much money in, that by law had to reduce the deficit. when president bush took over, the bubble burst and 9/11 happened. and let's not forget what he wasn't able to accomplish because of the republican congress.
i'm sure that bill clinton is a very nice guy, and people like him, i like him. he has done a lot of good since being president. but there are plenty of great public servants who didn't cheat on their wives and family and country, then lie about it. i keep coming back to the fact that he was impeached, the real cost was him taking the eye of the country's business before and after he was caught.
there are so many great dedicated and sexually normal people, that in my mind, clinton doesn't rise to the top of the list of great presidents, he's automatically out. an american president is supposed to be strong, and with tremedous character as a minimum requirement.
then comes the job, he just wasn't that great. a lot of democrats just glaze over the man, and point to his accomplishments. but the accomplishments aren't that great.

happy budget & valentines day !!

finally, a budget we can sink our teeth into. i'm already sure that it's the greatest budget submitted since the great depression. now that our government has "pulled us back from the brink of the end america", now that we've been saved, it's time to start spending some real money. is our president still beating the drum of european socialism, and the "shared money problems" ? has he left behind some of his radical "one world one heart" (one government) fantasy in favor of some fiscal common sense ? will he keep pushing the "stimulus" cure (we need more time), of the economy by loading debt on to unborn americans?

losing the speaker pelosi took a lot of the wind out of the ego driven faction of the stars and galaxies, civil superiority, and dreams of a loving doving world;  where all people are equally "successful", compensated and endowed. there is only peace and love (haight ashbury).

and the oceans are still rising.

after a couple of years of being  president, our president of obama has  learned from his mistakes, yet his best policies to date are the work of our last president.
when idealism clashes with reality, the first thing realized, besides the existenece of "shovel ready" jobs, is the reality of what works, and what doesn't. guantanamo works, but spending our way out of debt doesn't. supporting the democratic movements of the majority in oppressed nations (egypt) works, being the leader of the free world and staying silent (iran) doesn't. raising taxes....  well, you know.
egypt has had it's sputnik "moment", and now they are "winning the future", with or without the blessings of the rest of the world.
freedom is the cause, and technology is the tool in the march towards liberty, in a re-developing world, the people always win in the long run, they always have. first you have to have a democracy, then you can fight about how to spend and waste the peoples' money.  still though, it's less of a problem than crushing opression and political executions.
so what does the budget mean this year ? probably not much. the government is too big to present anything near a real budget. since the right hand has no idea of what the left is doing, there can be no fiscal parity. the whole operation is a big fat oxymoron, gushing money is the first clue.
i know... let's appoint a bunch more commissions to talk about and figure out how to trim the fat from an out of control spending behemoth. let's look to the government to learn how to be efficient, let's take our lessons about business, from people who have never had one, or even worked for one. we need more academics to study then discuss the problem., we need more talk.
i remember when tim geithner was the only human on the planet that was smart enough to save america. the treasury secretary that forgot to pay his taxes. we had to spend trillions to stop unemployment from getting above 8 percent, two years ago.
recently, we have lost track of the idea that the government is supposed to be small and represent the citizens. the politicians we have elected just use the people's hard earned money to attempt to equalize the class system. in their minds, the most important thing  to and for them, is the legacy they leave behind. when the clock runs out on their time, their grandchildren may be surprised at the distance between an inflated opinion of themselves, and the reality of history.
now we have a budget, and i can't wait to see how they spin it to look like a "budget surplus", like the one clinton left for bush.
still, i don't trust a government leadership that says "you can trust us", that tells you constantly what a great job they are doing, how hard they work. i don't have to like an administration and congress that consistently blames others, past, present or future,.
you want the job ? own it then.

union shakedown  oh inflation....         i write what i feel:  sometimes i bang it out with the libs at the political forums: check it out-here's one on the union strike

it's all about .ME
  by abigale adamson

well... wouldn't it have to be ?   to even run for president ?  when i registered washingtonamerica.com i noticed that most of the web extensions were available. so i registered all of the top level domain extensions .net .us .org... all the way down to .ME. actually it's a country code for montenegro, a nation candidate for the e.u. and nato.
i thought "it could be a website all about me". then, i thought "well, the website is washingtonamerica, so it should be all about george". then , i thought, it should be about obama, but.... everything is alrady. i've called our the president of obama a narcissist, and to a degree, i still think it's true.
wouldn't you have to be to run for the highest office in the land ? but, george washington was a truly self deprecating president, so too was lincoln. they inherently understood that they were not "bigger than the office", or the country. it's a rare quality in any person, much less in high office, even more rarely as president
today,  i am witnessing a remarkable yet apparent change in our fearless obama. i say apparent, because some of the great washington minds (krauthammer, etc.) say that this change of attitude and newfound modesty is simply cosmetic. they don't believe that our president is humbled, contrite, or even sincere, in his "symbolic adventure towards the center", as demonstrated in his "the fruitcake speech" befor the chamber of congress on monday.
i have always give president obama high praise for a few things. he is courageous politically. that is an admirable quality in a leader, even when he is wrong, because he thinks he's right. i fully appreciate that he proceeds (i won't say with quiet confidence, not so much...) in spite of who say's what about him, that basic and good stuff. he is overexposed, and he is enchanted sometimes, with the sound of his own voice. liberals spent lot's of time celebrating each other's "greatness", and their own living legacy. they so enjoy patting themselves and each other on the back.
but what if he is sincere ? and it would  behoove him, to save his own political ass if he wants to be a two termer, again... with the ego.
president obama has clearly enjoyed his first half. he loves attention and he loves being first in line wherever he goes. but if the novelty of airforce one has worn out, being centerstage as a world player has not. i still think that nancy pelosi was a distraction and a liability, for barrak obama, her ego did not help him at work, so to speak. he's better with boehner.
now we are heading into another exciting period of american history and politics and elections. the world is abuzz with liberty, freedom and the technology of the future. we are on the brink of new progressive values, versus the common sense and stark simplicity of our founding fathers. we have a beautiful system here, the pendulum of political ideology and growth swings from left to right everyday in america, and i'm tickled to still be a part of it.
at the start of the day, it's all about me.

          hope and change

by  harper solsberger

against the opinions of some of my conservative colleagues, i still believe that president obama is doing a good job with a very delicate and complicated issue in egypt. some say that he is talking too much. i think he is overexposed in general, but he has been properly visible and clear about democracy and the middle easy. i think that the president realizes that the scope of what is happening is tremendous. the people in egypt seem sincere about their intentions, they have stamina and they don't drink. can you imagine how this would play out on one of the boozer countries?
guys riding camels into crowds wildly swinging machetes, seriously? in this country someone would have to be totally hammered to do that, too hammered to ride the camel.
it's great to see the world waking up to a desire for a good life and democracy, i think this period in history is significant, as is the liberty people most hold high and steadfast in their dreams. the american president should speak out for open democracy. he didn't say enough in my mind, when iran happened. i am pleased that he is growing and learning in his job. this will take time as we are living in an "everybody wants everything now" world.

this argument is so ancient...

i liked our president obama's talk last night. it was direct and to the point. it spelled out fairly clearly where we stand, mostly it was short.
it should be his model for all future speeches. the rebirth of egypt is a process that needs to run it's course as a figure emerges to lead the next phase. political groups are forming. i have enjoyed how obama has shown good restrain, i think he understands the process and is getting good advice.
i wish iran would start up with their revolution again. one thing is true, they (the iranian freedom seekers) are watching egypt very carefully. we support anyone who wants freedom from oppression and tyranny. the world is changing ever so fast and democracy is central to future governments of the world. we the people rule ourselves. that could be true in every country. hope so.

 i like coal !

coal is starting to look pretty darned attractive now isn't it.
sooner or later we'll learn to control our energy demands.

           it's only money....

what about inflation ? we were told that we had to stimulate the economy with a trillion dollars to prevent unemployment from going above 8 %. much of the money was wasted on political paybacks and capital cronyism. it still bugs me that mark penn (hillary clinton's pollster) got seven million dollars to create three jobs, in a time when americans are suffering. the list of bullshit payoffs and political rhetoric (shovel ready jobs) is endless. spending and borrowing don't fix debt and the economy. what if unemployment stays high and is matched by inflation. you think people are pissed off now, wait until gas and milk are six dollars a gallon, perhaps our streets will look like cairo. i hope not, but when you combine the wrong policy with arrogant attitude, it's not going to be good. also, i'm still waiting for the earth to cool and the oceans to receed because obama said so. are you better off than you were two years ago? i'm not.

woman in combat? hell yes, if they want to. it seems to go along with the repeal of don't ask don't tell. let's go all in. women have been around combat and subjected to the same dangers as men since the beginning or war and time. the weight of their rucksacks is proportional to the size of the warrior. if they can live and work on a submarine, then what's to stop them from serving their country in the ultimate form?
i think it's a question of not if, but when. it has been shown that they can do everything a man can, in some cases, even better.
so if they want to, i say yea... our military should remain a volunteer institution and this is a good way fulfill the demands and numerical needs of protecting a democratic republic, god bless america and the people we have strived so vigilantly to show the world the shining star of liberty, and justice for all. does that sound corny? i don't care if it does.

the thing is:

is that the democrats realize now that their use of power wasn't absolute. non of them, from obama pelosi and reid on down, knew enough about the government or the american people to see that they can't just slam through privately what ever they want to be done in their european loving minds.. now the republicans are rubbing their noses in it. i don't think they're as flagrant or opulent and the democrats in their gloating (no one could be). this is both an exercise in "i told you so", and the true need for reform (as prescribed by the constitution). too much power all at one made them feel all bulletproof and full of attitude, like a drunken fratboy. but when you go around or exclude the other side in this country, there are consequences. if the dems had kept the house, this would be a whole different story. the reps implored the dems to include them in legislation process, and the dems said "eff you".
i really believe that they were so egotistical and arrogant, that in many cases they never saw the future coming. the dems didn't  keep the house, and now the message is "let's have a real look". so is it a waste of time? congress wastes everything, from time to money to intelligence, it's what they do. it is built into the constitution, that if it is the will of the people, even legislation that has passed, can be re evaluated. our government isn't like the dukes of hazzard, where the guy being chased just has to make it across the state line, then jump out of his car and thumb the sheriff who throws his hat at the ground, jumps up and down on it, and shakes his fist.
why didn't the democrats know this would happen? to me this is is a more interesting story than anything to do with the actual health bill. the president doesn't seem to me to be the same egotistical diety-like presence that took the stage at the 170000000 million dollar inauguration. pelosi is gone and reid is barely hanging in there, his war is lost.
so i'd have to say things are going along a lot better than they were two years ago. our government works, because no one can unilaterally make laws, even a group of like minded politicians. the laws we have now are meant to be changed slowly and thoughtfully, not like what happened in the president obama's first two years..
i have dear friends that are liberal, and even they will acknowledge respect for the process.
so that's why we have to try to repeal the bill, so we could see, and understand what's in it. there are parts that are fine, but any major legislation has to be a combination of all the elected members, not just a stiffarming and technical manipulation of the rules of government. this is all a great reminder of "you may be able to get away with it, but not for long". at the "start of the day" the american people always win.
so truthfully, who wasted the time? ignorance is bliss, and so am i.

moving on...

it's been my policy not to mention pundents by name in the saturated world of america's politics. i also try to move around the dial and listen to what everyone has to say. i should also say that mostly i watch the fox channel, and take my news from other sources as well, such as the wall street journal.
for the last couple of evenings, i listened in on the chris matthews "spitball" show. i think matthews is a true american asshole and i find his approach to be stunningly, even bombastically biased (olberman is in a class by himself). the night before, he pounded the idea, "ok, so sarah palin has gabby giffords in her gunsights", omitting the fact that bob beckel takes credit for the idea of the target, and the democrats used the surveyor symbol way before last weeks rampage in arizona, that doesn't seem to matter, why mention it.
mathews has an especially insidious, acerbic and nasty monotone delivery for his transparent attempts to champion everything obama and the democrats have to offer. journalisically speaking, he is like a low grade infection .last night when the subject of presidential eligibility and obama's qualifications were still being questioned. his guest professor from princton stated that the mere mention the subject was racism, sort of helping to build a protective wall around their king.
now, i'm sure that although the issue won't seem to fade away, the reading i've done suggests that there was a law in place, at the time stating, that if only one parent is a u.s. citizen, that the mother must have been "in residence" for ten years, five of which must be after the age of sixteen. clearly, if she was eighteen at the time of his birth, there is no way that law could have been met. the law seems to have been explained away, and obama is president. maybe there was no such law. or was there?
irrespective of any truth or consequences, does that make me a racist to ask the question? if it was michael steele instead of obama, would matthews be a racist for raising the question? is that fair?
i encourage all of you to give the heavily left sided media a listen. in there own insidious way, i believe that they contribute to the atmosphere they so ardently blame fox and the republicans for creating. the show is so completely lopsided, it's as if there is not even an attempt at balance. matthews comes across to me as so tainted and "mater of fact" about the evil nature of american conservatives.
i think that bill o'reilly is obnoxious and unwatchable much of the time, that's just me. he is a chauvinist and is disrespectful to his guests and his own cause. i don't think he peddles or even promotes the conservative message. hannity does, and i do watch him from time to time, but i can tell you that the forum on sean's website is run by moderators promoting themselves and their own agendas.
there is an atmosphere of vehemence that is perpetuated by the media. they all insult americans by slanting the perspective of politics and each other. there isn't  going to be a change or softening of tone after arizona, this is america, and the political pendulum swings both ways. if there is a chance to degrade the government or opposing politicians, it will be seized upon, that's true for both sides.
give matthews a listen, same for the others, see if they sound objective to you. try to figure out what motivates them.
challenge the people you know to name a few personalities on the "other sides" media outlets. it's disturbing to think that there will be people that accept these vicious members of the press as "gospel". as entertainment value goes, the are all fine, but in some cases you can cut their nasty agendas with a knife, as they deny being anything but pure. hypocrisy has become the norm in american political media. you have to decide for yourself.
smear tacticians like mathews and huffington promote hate and they love it when people like me write pieces like this, it's merely fuel in their twisted narcissistic gastanks, so i will try in the future to ignore what they say because i don't think they're worth the tepid ratings they generate. like howard roarke said so well, but i don't  think of you. president obama used that with sarah palin. we'll see if in the future obama thinks about palin, we already know what nbc thinks. not many people watch matthews or his show "paintball" but he hangs in there as one of the trite overexposed mosquitolike journalistic bottomfeeders, he's just another anklebiter mothball that needs to have his lips  removed from obama's ass. they count on the same blind followship that we call government, except most americans are hip to their bullshit, me too.

it made me sick to see karzai and biden hugging, what a rouse. we're kissing this guy's ass and he's effing us. he takes bags of cash from ahmadinajag and we're being played like an inexperienced third world nation. what in god's name is going on here ?? and the world is laughing at us, and living under our no cost to them comfort of the very military might the mock and condemn.

this too shall pass...

"you guys had better sharpen your damn pencils or i'll come back and kick your ass"

warning about sudden and significant changes in elected government and the new house of representatives.
you should always consult you doctor before accepting new members of congress because certain side effects can occur. while significant benefits are positive in applied circumstances, complications may include nausea, depression, blindness, blurred vision, liver and kidney damage, braincloud, verbosity, tonguetie, anger, jealousy, hemorrhoids, conjunctivitis, arbitrary indifference, lack of communication skills, blindness again, constitutional inconvenience and death.
when trying a new government, studies have shown that intolerance, absentminded and arrogant displays of public conquest, or "power of the people" can be compounded by ego related legacy incumbent retaliations of reform and "socialism as a community effort". otherwise organizational skills by non relevant unelected appointees can be complacent.  lifestyles of audacity and hope are configured as being deemed non crisis consideration, or having just wasted one (crisis). bureaucracy is a serious condition and can be inflamed by spending or otherwise collective pathologies, or aspirations and affectation of "income and wealth redistribution".
as always surf the internet and try to diagnose yourself, because two out of three doctors are having political conniptions and may be considered as "being on the left, or having caused left handedness and unilateral ideological thought patterns".
be sure to find out first what your local death panel has in mind for you, if you have trouble digesting your new "leaders" promises, you may have a diverticular colon, or inability to complete your morning "constitution" because of semi latent tendencies toward "sharing or communism". walking or individual ability to communicate with the principles you have elected (see explanation on the back of your local ballet), may become permanent or permanently disabling, but only until the next election cycle. consult your party for clear and concise scientific consensus, or give al gore a ringy dingy and ask him why he saved the animated frog, but let the animated polar bear in his movie "incontinent truth" swim off to certain demise. the earth is melting you know.

************************************* shall we dance???
when i was a little kid, my dad told me a story about the biggest camera store in downtown chicago. he said that one day an employee came into the owner's office and said "all of us employees have been working together, and we have voted and decided that we are going to become a union, so now your store is a union shop. here is a list of new regulations and demands, we expect to be implemented asap". he added "that's how it's going to be".
mr w., the owner said "i see and i understand what you are saying". he attentively listened to every point the new "union leader" had to make. w was polite and soft spoken, and heard everything his employee had to say.
the next morning, when the new union members came in to work, they found the store doors were chained and locked, with a small hand written sign that stated "we have gone out of business".
i have always loved that story, because it was such a powerful reminder to me of who calls the shots, at least in that one business. he did not succumb to the demands, this one business owner did not buckle under the threat of what he knew would be the beginning of a long run of  blackmailing threats and demands. his own employees had turned on him. they we're well treated and were the best paid of any comparable store in chicago. they had all of the fringe benefits they could hope for, but it wasn't enough. they wanted more, they wanted power and control... they sought the power of extortion.
we were going to explore and address the issue of unions in america today in the near future on this site. this most recent snowstorm in new york has brought the subject  attention and to the front burner.
is it possible the the sanitation union performed purposefully, less than up to usual standards, thereby, indirectly causing the deaths of innocent human life ? was this an intentional show of political force, from the very people we depend on to keep us safe? as the story unfolds, and it appears as if the may have been some preconditioning (premeditation), some orders coming down from high up, caused the lapse in getting the streets cleaned up, for emergency vehicles and general business. why would they do that?
the first thing that comes to mind is the attitude that "you (the general public) need us more than we need you". we will do what we want, and there is nothing you can do about it, we control
you, the people, the tax payers, the people who pay us.
this mindset reminds me of the 111th congress. we will do what we want, irrespective of the other members of our elected government, and more to the point, sidestepping the will of the american people, all at the price of their own legacies.
so here is the moral dilemma; when it comes to public safety and other issues of the government, do we still need the unions?
when unions first came to be in america, working conditions were deplorable. the squalor and rancid conditions of some work places had to be addressed and changed by a democratic forum, or collective of employees, all staying within the parameters of u.s. law.
my grandfather was the first asst, secretary of the n.e.a. he wrote the check for the building they are in today. he was a close friend and confidant of j.w. crabtree, the secretary of the time. grandpa e. went on to own a string of music stores, and for two years was the president of the national association of music merchants (namm)
the structure and description of unions today has changed. the function of some unions is still to protect and serve the
collective, however, perhaps the scale of demand has escalated. he lived to be 98, i wonder what he wold say about the role of unions today.
where i'm headed with this, is this; in the case of the u.s. congress and president obama,
they gambled that their partisan behavior would be well received by the "american people". they lost the bet. it cost the speaker pelosi her job. coming off the heels of a stunning history changing event of electing the first black president.
there was such a euphoria and invincibility by democrats in washington, that they
lost sight of the original intention of our founding fathers, and our constitution, and the desire of the american people. they we're so hopped up, they thought that they would easily push socialism on a democratic republic.  in the wake of glee and while drunk with new found power, they lost touch with both the people they represent, and the constitution they swore so solemnly to defend and preserve.
so, i'll ask again, do we want or need the kind of representation, such as an all partisan government can deliver? is a union that is run by just a relatively few people at the top viable, has the process gotten lost, like the original charter? the american people have awoken, and they have made their mark at the voting booth.  are all collective bargaining organizations still entirely necessary? have the unions helped the education of our children or effected the quality of our production? have they outgrown their usefulness. can they be held accountable for the lose of american jobs, or the declining volume of american business?
be sure, i am not anti union, some unions are good, but i am challenging wether or not, some
of them have outgrown their usefulness. some unions today are maybe still necessary, some are archaic and obsolete. they have simply choked their own workability and protective role to death, then they  complain the someone has shipped their job overseas, and they have no clue as to why.
what are the consequences or implications of negligent homicides caused
indirectly by the political manipulations of a given union. basically, if it did happen, could it happen again? the story is being investigated, but i can tell you, that on a world scale, if a group of workers is represented by a group of extortionists, that have planned and executed an act of human obsolescence, they perhaps need to remember this; that if they push too hard, or cause desperate circumstances of public safety, they will simply show up for work one morning exuberant and feeling powerful and self righteous, and the sign on their door may read "we have decided to go out of business today, how do you like us now". that includes our government, because this is america, and we don't take shit from anybody, that includes our own elected leaders. american voters, are still the boss, just ask minority leader nancy pelosi.
happy new year !
with the inception of a fresh congress we're beginning to like the president obama much more. he has certainly change his attitude from arrogance and superiority to some contrition and open mindedness.
we are especially pleased that the speaker pelosi will be replaced by someone who is not a martin l. king wannabe. power and ego seem to go together in politics, i wonder why politicians are obsessed with their own legacy, and less concerned with the operational functionality of elected office they so desperately seek.
ego ladies and gentleman, pure and simple. they all want to be remembered for being champions of the people, they all want to be immortal, they want to be remembered as populists.
i've always considered that the economy runs in cycles, that the white house and congress don't control the economy. they can control spending and debt, but the government that become a freewheeling/floating behemoth, like a giant ship without a rudder, sink the bismark.
i don't understand any operation that "spends it's way out of debt. i can't do it, how can they? the obvious difference is that i can't tax my fellow citizens, and the won't let me print my own money. rats.
i can't figure why some think that the government isn't big enough. would the founding fathers say "make the government  even bigger"? i doubt it.
will another 17,000 irs agents make the country better? more efficient with greater liberty? is that the kind of change we need? i don't think so. some people are paying up to sixty percent of what they make in taxes, that doesn't leave much room for growth, personal, or anything other kind. the incentive for an american dream is squashed by our own government, when the solution to short term means is borrowing.
socialist theory blames successful people for working hard. the more you make, the more the socialists feel they are entitled to (and we;ll just take it from you), as in wealth redistribution. this is absolutely against the grain of the original constitutional platform, and the essence of commerce set at perfect liberty, like thomas jefferson wrote about to john adams.
we are beginning to see how well socialism works in europe. we know the the mantra of cap and trade is about world control, not new world order. it's about indecent profit for a few. money and power for a small number of ruling elite, the very people that hate the corporations they serve to emulate. hypocrisy of the highest order, it's ok for us to do it.
we have as a text icon/mantra what ben franklin so clearly framed for the following generations. he said "when the people find they can vote themselves, that will herald the end of the republic". like most things, ben was right, and it has never been so obvious as with the government of the last two years.
an american democrat congress with presidential guidance, spend more money, than all of the 240 years of america combined. that's stunning, and that's how they will be remembered. they have created "generation debt" a whole generation of children born into financial slavery. this is probably the origin of "hi !! i'm from your government and i'm here to help you. (borrowed money and confiscated (extorted) income, from they people actually doing the work. if a democracy has never lasted for more than a couple of hundred years, this is the reason why. when more than half the people don't pay in to the system becomes top heavy and will be crushed under it's own weight, and the finger pointers will say "we just didn't know that could happen) only we did, and we said so.
if you haven't read "atlas shrugged" you should, because that writing is on the wall. the very people condemned for supplying most of the revenue will quietly disappear, and take their means and talent with them. there may be a galt's gulch somewhere now, groups of movers a shapers that simply say we've had enough. we don't think it's fair, we quit. we don't have to support the monstrosity we have elected, so maybe we won't.

       message to the people
by scott e.

when i started washingtonamerica.com it was because i was lucky enough to  to get such a strong web address, it kind of fell into my lap.  it's an amazing brand name and it's significience isn't lost on me. when we started a year ago october, i had a sinking sick feeling of where i thought this country may be headed, and i was alarmed.

now that our congress has "leveled" itself, and the president obama is moving toward the center, we will too.
finally, after a couple of years of congressional chaos (mostly fiscal), we are beginning to see wonderful signs of leadership, that includes everyone, not just the left.

there was too big of a temptation to ignore the conservative branch of the government, as we have said many times, obama and pelosi and reid were drunk with power, and history will show that.

so we will continue to be a stream of consciousness and place for conservative political observations. our new years resolution is to be funnier. there is no more fertile ground for humor than the american political arena. we're trying to be more like ben franklin, than like william f. buckley.

with elections coming up, we're excited to see if the people were pleased with the pendulum of politcs swinging the other way. will the people move to a more conservative stance ?  will they reelect the status quo? will the government we have now prove to be a failed experiment in socialism?

so that's it. this is a place to come to to relax, read a few news stories, perhaps have a few laughs at ourselves. no advertisments for now, we'll never have popups because they are distracting and obnoxious and they suck.
we're open to suggestions and we'll post anyone's opinion as long as it's clean constructive. this site really belongs to the american people, and we'll try not to forget that as we grow. we want this site to be a crossroads where video, music and politics all meet the america road.

thanks to you all,
scott erlandson, editor

american taxpayers should spend their money much more wisely than their government can .

what kind of religion would provide for people to blow themselves up, and take innocent men women and children with them ?

maybe that's where we should start looking for solutions.

one of the year's most important stories was the jan brewer versus the u.s. government, about whether or not the borders are secure. there's a question of if even should  be. janet napolitano comes out periodically and says they are secure and safe, that everything is fine, then there are a lot more murders and crime sprees.
this ties in directly with the dream act which is a terrible idea, that has been defeated, because we're not ready for it. immigration reform doesn't mean capitulation. maybe maybe the dream act could work, but only after the mexico border is sufficiently managed. mexico is getting so much better because for the first time i can remember, they are actually doing something about their corrupted culture.
it's not fair to put people ahead in the line to become an american citizen. i'm not too wild about the idea of trading citizenship for military service like they do in socialist countries.
but governor jan brewer is a hero in our eyes, for not just rolling over for our leftist government experiment. she continues to stand up for what's right. we can't secure our
borders for a reason that has only to do with politics, and not because of technology or funding or any other tangible or concrete reason. our government has let us down so much with their trappings of liberal hypocritical socialism.
they won't secure the borders and they want to give away citizenship to secure the next vote.
our government is giant and ineffective and quite lame, it's making it's own citizens sick.
nothing will ever change until we start to make the government smaller and less
powerful.
the end of the 111th congress marks one of the lowest points in american government history. the legislation they passed/forced is useless and trophylike. they will parade around and give each other great credit, but their accomplishments are a joke. well maybe not a joke, for a "quite lame" duck congress, they moved the ball more in the last three weeks, than in the first two years, whatever that means.
there's a lot to do and pelosi's out.
like the obama campaign, it's a lot of ringing hollow disingenuous fakery, designed to move the country in a direction far different from the founding fathers original idea of perfect liberty.
somehow we'll get back to it, the change we need will come too slowly, but it will happen, and when it does, it will be because of people like governor brewer, and other brave conservative americans who never give up.

now that president clinton is back in the whitehouse, we thought it would be a good time to have a look at the clinton presidency, the era, and the world while he was president.
the clinton economy and the great depression

by tadd basha

how were the economy and unemployment under clinton ? clinton enthusiasts view the man as sort of a hero. i think he had an easy time during his presidency, and he squandered it on sex antics. he was sort a one term president. what little gems are there for the "president that left a huge surplus and the world in perfect  working order, as he handed off to president bush" ?

over and over we hear today's president say "we have saved america from the greatest economic crisis since the great depression", or at least it was implied.

there are a couple of things that set us apart from the great depression. bank runs and monetary policy. today's president says "on one hand, we are in the worst recession since the great depression"; while on the other passing massive spending bills, much of it wasted.

we live in a country where the politicians never talk about poor people. only about taking money from the successful wealthy to give to the middle class.

back to this clinton surplus thing. clinton was president during the internet boom. so much money was paid into social security because of huge incomes. by law it must be applied to the deficit. then the bubble broke in march of 2001, then 911 happened.

i think clinton could have done a better job with osama bid laden, but he was too busy being impeached.

the surplus is a myth. the deficit is a made up number because our system collects the money and spends it before any work gets done.

suppose you said "i think i'll spend five thousand this week, even though i will only make one thousand". well i need five so i'll just tell my employer that i'll be taking five thou this week cause that's what i've already spent.

the worst economy since the great depression was during the carter years, and he's running around too, spouting and looking like an ex presidential fool.

clinton got awfully lucky, it was president bush that was handed off some of the biggest challenges,  in american history, for which he did a tremendous job.

clinton got lucky,  but we may never know for sure because of sandy berger's pants. you won't read a piece like this in the new york times. LOL

there's a lot more to this, and we'll be adding to it as we go along, because so much of what the liberals and democrats say is total bullshit.  the fact they they keep repeating it over and over and... doesn't make it true.
and besides, now people can just "google it' to find the truth. that's another something that's different between now and the greatest depression since, the real and only great depression. that's why we started washingtonamerica.com

i just heard the president say "this is no time to play games" and "there will be plenty of time for campaigning". this is a rich example of both humor and irony.
however, something we can not ignore, is the tremendous fortitude of president obama. you've got to hand it to him for being fearless about who thinks what. if he is willing to sack his own popularity, so be it. is this sleeping giant coming alive ? this is a great example of political courage and we admire that ! we're seeing something different here and we like it. it appears as if our mr. president may be a second half player. that would be awesome.

once again, our borders are safe and secure..

shut it down shut the federal government down for a few days... a week, how about a month ?
we should shut it down for a month every year just to see if anyone notices.
luckily harry reid pulled the omnibus from the floor, heralding the end of the wasting of another  trillion dollars. these last few lame duck days of winter bring the end of nancy pelosi as speaker of the house, thank.... god.
miss "nomorejet" pelosi will not be missed by conservative responsibile americans. her agenda no longer matters.

the now extinct 111th congress can't hurt us anymore. they have been more proof that ben franklin was right when he said. "when the people find out they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic". only the people stepped in and stopped the gusher, and the march towards socialism.

http://facesoflawsuitabuse.org/

this is a cause we support. it could be the beginning of tort reform in the healthcare arena, and the end of lawyers forever in america...

hey...
i'd pay twenty bucks just to get rid of one....

.
socialism's many facets
international:

it's a victory for america..... intellectual bravery
our most awesome united states supreme court has a very difficult job to do. we can only trust in the quality of the their education and experience, as they opine their judgements. when a student of the law reaches a certain level of expertise and career, i like to think that they are trained to think only about the law.
"above reproach" is the standard we put our faith in. we have a system that works because, someone has decision making talent,  as they render the last word.
the case of the westboro hate group represents the most sublime difficulty there can be in judging the law. i can't imagine a harder or more emotional call to make. only did samuel alito break from the group of supremes, as if to say, we know this hurt's folks; but what comes with liberty, is the reality of what we do. we make out decisions according to how we interpret this case, the facts of the case, and the law of the land.
why samuel alito, isn't he a conservative justice?
perhaps he saw something that the others didn't, or they did, but, in the end, decided to not dissent.
this is not a victory for the westboro haters, it is an affirmation that our constitution guarantees americans to free speech.
as monstrous as they are, they are the precedent. it's hard to imagine anything so low as what they do.
on the bright side,  privately, good people are protecting the mourners, that lost a child while defending liberty.
they will continue to do so while we wait for the westboro "church" to blow up accidentally... somehow.
the supreme courts decision stands, even if we don't like it. we hate it because it goes against common decency and appropriate societal behavior. to me what they do is a hate crime, this case will be back sometime, as soon as another hate group figures out how to up the ante on nasty and cruel, to their fellow countryman.
we need fo remember that this is a tiny group of seemingly inbred psychotics, their only tools are hate, shock, being insidious, and attention seeking. pay them no attention, accept that we will bury them in a blanket by people who are decent and kind. like the wicked witch of the west, they have no power here.
in the mean time, the supreme court did a good job.

he looks like a ghoul, because he is a ghoul. why do the monsters all end up looking so bazaar? al-qaddafi has the twisted features of all of his years of butchery and creating chaos for his country, and the world.
we are hoping that the president obama was waiting for the american expats to make their escape, then do something tremendous. we can go right in and pick him up for war crimes pending. but that won't happen, it's too extreme a move for us to make now. but if he can't come out against someone of gaddafi's murderous magnitude, then he's right back to iran '09. it must be difficult for the president to do the right thing, but only he knows what he knows, and we need to trust his judgement. one thing i've noticed is the heavyweight commentators seem more divided then normal. the middle east is at a unique crossroads. it's not that often when all of the planets line up. i hope we as america are very overt in our appreciation for the momentum happening now. president obama has done well with egypt. i figure the middle east is about halfway through this campaign. libya will kill qaddafi, then things will settle down a bit.
but watch iran, because it is the magic of this well informed society, that is so perfectly poised for freedom, that i await. they will overthrow the brutal regime of ahmadinejad and the ayatollah from hell.

i feel slighted and ripped off because the news channels are spending too much time on this wisconsin union bullshit, instead of more coverage of the blooming democracies in the middle east. that's a far more interesting story than a bunch of whining babies greedy for more. i want to see gadaffi executed on t.v. just so i know he's dead. the video of saddam being snuffed out was a little gross, but it brought so much relief to iraq, it was worth it. gadafi is a monster that needs to be slain. no less than the future of the world is a stake these days. it seems as if in the last couple of years, the monstrous dictators are gaining momentum. chavez is a pig and i'll be glad when he drops dead.
the entire planet is modern enough that everybody on it can be free. once people are aware that liberty exists, humans are drawn to it naturally. assholes like gadafi and chavez won't be able to oppress their people much longer. again, we in the free world have plenty of problems, but turning our resources over to a lunatic dictator isn't one of them.(although some may argue that point).

so get off the stage wisconsin and unions, the teachers union has passed it's usefulness and worn out it's welcome. people are sick of hearing about your relatively minor selfish problems. wake up, there are people suffering, while you grub for more. the timing of all of this couldn't be worse. so shut the hell up and go back to work before your own people fire your collective bargaining asses. nobody cares anymore, deal with it, i'd rather watch world freedom being born, than listen to your trite little saga.

    kill gadaffi now !!!
stamp this butcher out, squash him like a bug. let's lberate the world from yet another of a long line of batshit crazy lunatic dictators.

where are the charismatic leaders for all of these budding new democracies ?

you're going down madman... lunatic...
ahmadinejad must go now !!!

we continue to be very pleased with the president obama's response to uprising democracies. to us, he is doing everything right with respect to iran, his comments are timely and appropriate. we don't know where it's coming from but we like it.

ok iran... it's your turn...
this time is the charm....
america wants so much for iran to break the brutal chains of ahmadinejad and the ayatollah. they are the modern day snakes of evil doing. they only care about their own egos, while they let their own people suffer. in the end civil democracy will triumph over oppression and the lies they live. the proverbial cat is out of the bag now. they know now how good life can be.
they know how because of internet social networking. the greatest tool in the fight for democracy, is the communication and discussion between the masses.
they have always had a common cause, now they can have a common voice. so when you put the two together; the yearning for liberty and organisation efficiency provided by facebook and twitter, the conditions are perfect for an overthrow of a nasty government. just like the nazis, the tyrants of the middle east, can never find and burn all of the books, because now the books are virtual, and digital and unextinguishable, the message of truth is forever.
i'm sure that one of the centerpieces of what modern thinking humans desire, is the proper treatment by a society of it's woman. women are equal to or far superior to men in every way. it is astonishing that even with the tenacity of ancient laws and customs, that exists today, some cultures continue to consider woman to be second class citizens.
once everyone in the world knows the truth, that woman are, and always will be treated as equal, and never subservient, the archaic practitioners of that culture will fall. the women will rise up to the equal stature they so richly deserve.
in america, we choose to celebrate all people as equal. this is the essence of democracy. the rest of the world will catch up. people now realise that, freedom is about choice. so we hope and pray that iran will topple the vile dictators, then elect new leaders. there are enough people in the streets now to make this happen, it's not a question of if but when.
it will be fun to watch ahmadinejad flee the country, bubbye tyrant. your people say "we will be free, in our choice of leaders, our pick of religion, and for being born female, now hear us roar".

national multi cultures have failed ?
europe says that multiculturalism has failed. are U kidding ?? that's what this country is built from.

AFTER EGYPT  you and your dirtbag boss are theocratic losers, watch your back cause your people say "your next".

these  are the most frightened little weenies on our planet are these guys.  akmawackojag and the i atolla you so... because they know the the sunami of democracy is coming their way. they have always known that the people of iran will never settle for less than perfect freedom. they see that americans are free to move around and do as we please. they have tasted and enjoyed the trappings of a free economy, free communications and some fun consumer products and convienience of life. we work hard, and we still have problems, but we treat our citizens with respect. everyone has an oppurtunity to succeed. we have a system that works, and the whole world is watching as egypt frees the chains of oppression. we may have uberegotistical lunatic leaders from time to time, but we're not oppressed or denied liberty. and we vote, vote vote.

60 minutes.
(or so)

i saw the sixty minutes interview with julian assange and i still wish him dead. the son of a bitch thinks he's some sort of damn folk hero. it's pretty clear cut that he's on the other side from us. give aid to our enemies? just cause the new york times (a true traitor to it's own country) sells us out, regularly, it doesn't make it right for anyone.
this is war.  in this country we defend our liberty with anything we've got !  and we have a little thing called loyalty, something assange knows nothing about, since he has no country.  when suggested that he become a martyr he said "not yet, lets's keep it that way". let's not.

this is the face of common sense ladies and gentleman...
though it may not seem like that significant of a change, but it is monumental. speaker boehner is the political/policy opposite of former speaker pelosi. the brakes have been applied, the engine of america's demise has been throttled way back. the financial destructiveness of wasteful spending and greasing your friends is over, talk about taking the keys from the drunk driver.
now, it's as if the u.s. house of representatives, by the will of their constituents, have had their sputnik moment.
mr. boehner said sunday morning that we will raise the debt ceiling, if the president cuts the credit cards into pieces. that seem like a fair deal for the unborn children who will actually carry the debt. this is what i mean by common sense. pelosi, reid and obama were the perfect storm of capital cronyism and waste, their hope and change based on archaic economic theory, instead of logic and math. too much control landed them into trouble with the voters.
let's give this financial recovery thing a try, i really liked paul ryan's short, focused remarks on what's going to happen.
even the most ardent liberals are breathing a huge collective sigh of relief, because the renegade captain of the spending team obama, and his followers have been stopped. we have said it before, america is not a socialist nation because we do want to be. it's that simple, now let's move on.

the new egypt will be more fun...   Egypt is a far more interesting story by far, over the dreary lackluster details of money and debt and crazy spending. this is the exciting expectation of people not settling for anything less than perfect liberty. the prospect of a new democracy on earth is exciting beyond belief. the egyptians are fine cultured people, i have enjoyed the pop up rallies around america. it's an expression of solidarity, it adds to the credence of what's about to come. we're seeing it all over the world.
this is the information era and the whole world is watching. we have to give president obama high marks for his restrain. hopefully he learned from the iran revolution from a year and a half ago.
don't be surprised to see other attempts at freedom and democracy around the world. this is as good as it gets. one day the old governments that oppress and disrespect their own citizens will be extinct

"the state of our union is somewhat vague, much like our space program, we'll have to wait for a ride from the russians".
we need to have a lot more empty (feel good because we're great and we really know what we're doing) campaign speeches so our leaders can be enchanted with the sound of their own voices. we can feel a sputnik moment coming on...

this is so far from making sense coming from an american president. we want to be like the soviet union was in the fifties? even i know that's not cool, i don't think that moves us forward. perhaps it's time for some new speech writers, or something...

     so much for civility...
it didn't even last a week. if there is anyone out there that thought the campaign rally in tucson would change the "tone" or civil nature of our discourse, you can stay in line and be naive. there are already members in the house fighting to be alan grayson (cohen weiner etc.) and carry the flag of hysterical liberal mania, it's an act that is getting so old and familiar. the speech and crass show in tucson helped the president's approval ratings, that's about it. as usual i wasn't fooled. die quickly.
so let's change the subject. i like what the president obama said to the chinese about human rights, free speech and peaceful assembly. and i liked the president hu's response, the elephant in the room is somewhat acknowledged. will anything come of it? it's doubtful, but the current chinese leader seems to be alert and more present to the era. i hope we are moving beyond the last of the marxist trained communists. i don't know why the calling him a dictator was walked back, he is exactly that. these types of meetings pretty much stand on ceremony, and that's fine, we need to listen to people who are successful at business, like donald trump. the chinese are cleaning our economic clock and laughing about it, sort of against the grain of what america has always stood for. liberal foreign policy continues to give away the farm in the dim hope of "making friends" with the dictators, and the america haters, two terms of this may hurt us beyond repair.

he's an egyptian...

and now it's egypt's turn to be in the world spotlight to advance the cause of modern freedom.
what's the first clue? the egyptian government shut down any type of communication, they are trying to keep massive protests in their streets a secret. all of the devices for spreading news to the world have been summarily squelched. if you think about it, that silence sends a more poignant message to the free world. it never works. instead, it only makes the cause of freedom stronger. it's a typical response to trying to hide the truth. perhaps this will inspire iran to follow suit. we are pleased that our president obama has called for democracy and peace in the region. it's the least he can do, but at least he's done that. unfortunately he missed the opportunity with iran, but he was just learning the job. we know that as americans, we have come to expect the call from our high elected leaders. if america can't stand against oppression, then what have we fought for, for all of these generations. we have never given up, and we will defend the human rights to a better life around the world.

.

   hu ?

just ask the donald...  ASK donald trump about the desparity between china and america when it comes to a level business playing field. twenty five percent tax on chineese imports he says.
as usual we hold the power. we hear about the concerns of china holding so much of our debt. if we stopped buying their products, many of which we don't even need, they would be screwed.  so they need us at least as much as we need them.
that's a good enough reason why donald trump should be president. just for sayig that

we need to repeal the bill so we can see whats in it...
when the democrats rammed through the healthcare bill, it was going to be the crowning jewel of the 111th congress and the president of obama. now, when the rest of the people want to repeal the bill so we can see what's in it, it's a "waste of time". is that unamerican, to wish to be part of a process from which they were so arrogantly shut out? isn't the waste of time the misuse of a democrat monopoly to legislate past the will of the american people, the people they were elected to represent? if it was such a great idea adorned by all, then why isn't nancy pelosi the speaker of the house ?
why all of the sudden in the aftermath of a great tragedy is there a sudden call for "civil discourse"? what did we have before?
i heard that asshole chris matthews say that "palin had gabby giffords in her gunsights". is it a surveyors symbol or not? was that same symbol used in a democrat message before that? is the democrat agenda unfairly advanced by the media or not? can the media switch the truth on and off to suit their own needs, as is done so often by the new york times and every media outlet except for fox news? why is fox so far ahead of the others in ratings? is it fair for the president to drop into the common trenches of dirty politics and deceit and misrepresentation, then suddenly take an opportunity to "rise above it all" claiming that righteousness for himself?
this country was conceived by lot's of people asking the right questions. we should never follow our "leaders" like sheep. i'll have some more questions to contemplate for tomorrow. trust is a special thing, and like truth, it cannot simply be turned on and off because of the events of a day.
you can fool some of the people all of the time, and you may fool all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time. i think some people are tired of being fooled. some of us saw through the bullshit before the 08 election, and the rest remain a mystery.

 we don't have the technology:
 by
 reggie sandburg
the united states can't secure the mexico border because we don't have the technology, how's that for progress? what a great message we send to the world. we put men on the moon and brought them safely home but our nearest neighbor has a porous entry. good thing we don't border north korea or iran. it's easier for janet napolitano to come out with the president periodically and just say the borders are safe and secure. america doesn't have the ability to control it's own borders, wow that makes me feel good and proud. this in addition to letting iran get the bomb instead of us helping that oppressed theocracy to become free. what else can we do to help the world become more chaotic? let's let china continue to roll over us and laugh about it while they take us over as the world's economic leader. does china have secure borders? is it because of technology? let's jut trust and help karzai, while he takes bags of cash from iran while he mocks us. when the democrats said that bush was just sending mercenaries to iraq, are they still mercenaries when obama sends them to afghanastan, the "good war"?
what happened to the sense of urgency to try the enemy combatants and close down guantanamo? why is all of it so bad under bush, and so great under obama.
as we approach the next presidential election cycle are people going to buy into the false prophecy of hope and change again ? i'm not going to stop standing up for what i believe the constitution says and what it means. i don't have to go along with the push for a more socialistic mechanism, because some people think we should be more like european countries. i don't want my country to be anything but a democratic republic. i think that's what the founding fathers wanted. if we strive towards spreading the wealth and not having enough technology to protect ourselves is that the "progress" the progressives so eagerly tout. not on my watch mister. perhaps the country will blame bush enough to get their obama elected twice. i will continue to point out why i think the obama pelosi reid agenda isn't right for the u.s.a. outing "big nancy" was a  good start.
so, we can't secure our borders because we don't have the money or the technology to secure the border ? i suggest you all think hard about that and contemplate what exactly it means, but i'm sure it can't be good.

i'm not sorry that i don't feel compelled to fall in line behind our president after another flowery self promoting speech. the undignified event of last week leaves me skeptical and wondering. just as his style of foreign policy did not reel in and "make friends" with the world's rogue states, people aren't going to suddenly be nice when addressing the issues of governing a nation, or each other. i'm leery because of the many speeches he has given before, i don't really believe a word he says.
i don't have to. a long string of broken promises and ideological agendas being forced upon people that don't want it. i am glad that he has kept a lot of the bush policies, the surge, secretary gates, guantanamo, bush tax cuts etc. i'm glad that the house has been forced to stop the spending and general economic madness of the pelosi .
we can't run around after a tragedy and put kneejerk band aids on a free society. lone assassins and mental illness are going to exist in a nation of 300 million.
the events of arizona aren't going to change the way we get things done. i wasn't impressed by the president's speech because i know the people he is speaking of, will be just as nasty and partisan as ever in about a week. the address was in the presentation form of a campaign speech. i feel as if this president has never stopped campaigning or working on his own legacy. i still believe that he is a narcissist and a poser and it frightens me how easily he is able to distract and fool his flock. i don't see the greatness in him yet and i don't enjoy his style. we'll see if he reverts back to slamming the other side. we'll see if he stays in campaign mode. he is one guy and our country has a beautiful constitution. even if he wins a second term i don't have to be mesmerized or wooed by a speech. i don't appreciated the press touting his approval ratings having gone up the day after. the circus memorial became all about barrak obama, transparency is a two way street, i can see right through him as i did before he was elected, and if i end up bing the only one, so be it.

i'm concerned that the democrats are shocked that there are a great many people that want to have a second, or first look at health care. the truth, it sounds like, is that the bill doesn't have all the things that were promised by the big three, obama reid and pelosi. there may be some shortcomings or false representations. the bill wasn't discussed or passed in an atmosphere of transparency, very much the opposite in some ways, like secret meetings and strict partisan fashion. so why can't we change it, now that it seems that a lot of the health bill is based on lies.

2.  i have refrained from writing about the circuslike memorial event of the other night. i felt kind of cheated, the show seemed more about president obama and his approval ratings. any criticisms would be construed as cynical, but i thought the whole "production' was a pep rally for the advancement of ideological agenda. i've never been to a memorial service at an arena with catcalls booing and outbursts of cheering and applause, so maybe i don't know. i was let down by the rowdy campaign like observance of those horrible events. we'll see how long the effects of "his great speech last, i guess, to me it seemed phony and insincere, and contrived, considering what happened in tucson. i don't like to mention specific members of the press, but i see hypocrisy in blaming others for the very acts they commit. i wish the job of governing the country was less like show business and more like governing. as for healer in chief ? let's see if his flock walks the walk, so far i haven't seen it.

as much as i delight the press devouring each other, because most of them suck, i've decided to rise above the nastiness
and not point out who's freeloading on our national tragedy.
you know who they are. don't worry it will pass and they will go back to their regular bullshit.
it's all part of the process in america. in washington, it's politics as usual, and the beat goes on.
where's global warming???

these shots heard around the world will not silence liberty, it only makes us stronger. no one will unnerve us, be they political or psychotic, some times the two converge. as senseless as this latest act remains, no powerful force on earth will ever distract us from the virtues of liberty.
there is only freedom in america. there is evil in the world and in our back yard, and there is nothing we can do about that. what we can do is keep going, in spite of events like this. there is joy and light in the aftermath of tragedy as presented in unity and heroism,it tempers the pain of reality. we are a strong  society in a nation of three hundred million, there is one madman and hundreds of brave powerful citizens surrounding each instance of crime.. there will always be evil, but the good and decency of a free nation will always outrun the course of an isolated few. for the past few years our system of government and our constitution have been tested as never before in our relatively short history. we are politically divided, but in the course of human events, it is the healthy nature of that discourse that allows us to survive the individuals that want to disrupt the peaceful transition and our way of life. they can't. maybe  a brief spell of confusion, but the sanity quickly returns and we go on about the business of being free.

winter H.Q. for washamericom and vermontropy (i do feel a little guilty, but i think i'll get over it)  one great thing for my extensive liberal audience (yeah right) is the benifit that i will only leave the island once a week, so i won't be posting everyday.
so enjoy my vacation, because when i get back to washington, i'll be kicking on your liberal asses everyday, i don't care who is in the whitehouse or congress.

i'm back on my favorite island for a couple of months, and i am quickly reminded of how many dear friends i have that are true liberals.
one of the great things about being american is to be able to befriend people at the opposite end of my political spectrum. when the government changes after an election, it's always a smooth process. i'm not so narrow minded as to be a straight republican (or libertarian). the are so many democrats and moderates that i like better than some of my own party. i truly believe that we all want the same thing at the beginning of the day. some conservatives (like me) are sometimes painted as insensitive or uncaring for the poor and those who need help. i/we are compassionate, we just have different ideas on how to get there. i wouldn't trade even my most liberal friends for all the tea in china. if i did , i wouldn't have anything to do all day. i get along beautifully with my liberal pals, we can always have a civil discourse, and enjoy some laughs. it is the forum of banter that sets us free from the tyranny of the world. we are always guilty of wanting to share freedom and liberty with the rest of the world, and that's both the why and how. god i love this country.

our troops come first...
thank you troops, and all of your families !

w a s h i n g t o n a m e r i c a !

this guy again... just signed a million dollar deal to tell his story. suggested working titles for the book are "enemy america" and "life on the run".   if his  rape charges don't stick he can always rely on espionage, and being the (our)  u.s. 's enemy combatant.
either way, we are sure that
from now on, he'll be looking over his shoulder, or he'll be dead.
this benedick has no future. that's what happens when you help our enemy, just ask the new york times, treason comes with a heavy price.
freedom of press ?  tell that to the mother of a dead u.s. soldier...

 marine flag
don't ask don't tell goes by the way of repeal, and the will of the people. has the decision ignored or bypassed the will of the combat troops, say in the marines, or special forces ?  we're not convinced that it isn't a form of political correctness foisted upon an already well working operation. there is plenty of room for gays in the military, where they are welcomed by their colleagues.
why did the liberals in the government listen to "the people" about gays in the military, but not about spending, healthcare and homeland security ?  in a time where people are desperate to show their tolerance, and ability to bend over backwards to be politically correct, are we rushing to judgement ?
does the gay community represent enough of the population to command such demand ?  i don't think we have seen the end of this issue with respect to decisions made "at street level".  there may be an area that warrants further discussion and input from those who are doing the fighting. it may be a distraction.
who knows maybe it will all work out, but for now, it seems a "bit forced" and perhaps premature. they may be very little effect or fallout, that would be best, but we had to raise the question.

earmarks:
i can't believe it, but i just called senator leahy's office, a very nice woman answered in person. i told her that i was scott e. from washingtonamerica.com, that i would like to request for senator leahy to vote against anything with earmarks.
i'm stunned, but i was able to reach senator sander's office and vermont's only representative to congress, peter welch.
for all three i was greeted very nicely within a couple of rings. i left messages with very pleasant and smart sounding office personnel.
i am absolutely amazed that i was able to get through, this is  a great country !!
so, i'm sure that this will be the end of the earmarks in washington, america...

 congress gone wild..

we're sure this is the worst, most potentially dangerous government we've had since the days of "boss tweed".
a perfect storm of liberalism and socialistic aspirations. the american tax dollar is flowing the wrong way. it's the principle, it's the money.

maybe the united states  is in for a good old fashioned tax revolt. people would put their tax money into escrow, the government has to wait to spend the money until the courts decide.

life in america is fastly becoming "the people against the government".
maybe our government will be overthrown like in
a third world country. riots in the streets because the democrat government wasted so much of the people's hard earned money

we're against sedition.
we choose our destiny, we change through vote

with the state of the union address coming up next month, we'll be anxious to see if supreme court members attend, after being so insulted by the president last year.File:Supreme Court US 2010.jpg

dirtbag julian assange is on the run again from rape charges by two women.
is he dirctly responsible for the death of american lives ?  open season traitor...

update from this morning:
the piece of crap assange will remain a prisoner pending bail hearing.

chief asshole "filmmaker" michael moore is in support of assange who is an enemy of the united states. there is a growing list of anti american sympathizers. we'll publish the list.

here's what moore said:

let's have a white house led roll back on gasoline use.
it has to come from the top. the president comes out and say's:
i want everybody to take a notebook and write "mileage" on the top of the first page.
now, for the next three weeks, write down your mileage for each day.
only until we know what we use, can we see how to use less.
if everyone stopped driving for a week or two, it  would decrease the demand incredibly, but things would back up, so it has to be gradual. let's just use less gas.

now, once people have figured out how much they drive, then , they can dial it back say five percent. or half the population drives three percent less, alternate weekly, you get the idea. if people know much they burn, they can begin to burn less.

this is a fairly easy thing to do, but it has to be a coordinated effort.
if we do this and change the diesel fleet to natural gas... then we'll be doing something proactive and worth while.
we all know how to be miserly if we have to, we'd do it for our country, and so we won't be dependent on assholes like chavez and ahmadinejag, and countries in opec.
